Trip Itinerary
PARK TUDOR
DAY 1- ARRIVE IN ICELAND
Upon arrival at Keflavík Airport, you will be met by your driver in
the arrival hall (after baggage claim and customs) who will transfer you to your accommodation in central Reykjavík.
He will be holding a sign with the group name.
Today you will visit the most significant
places in the capital and some surrounding towns, such as the Presidential Residence at Bessastaðir, the Restaurant Perlan
(the Pearl), and Höfði House where the all-important summit meeting
between President Ronald Reagan and Secretary General Mikhail Gorbachev took
place in 1986. We will also visit the town Hafnarfjörður, the home of “elves” and “humans” alike. We will visit an old fishing harbor, fish market (when
it is open), the towering
Hallgrim’s church, the University District,
the Old Town Centre and Parliament Building and the New City Hall. You will also see our beautiful
pond in the downtown area visited frequently with many birds.
We will be showing
you sports and recreation areas in Laugardalur, a geothermal heated
outdoor swimming pool, and
artwork crafted by Ásmundur Sveinsson and Einar Jónsson. Weather and circumstances permitting, we can end up at the big church so that you can spend
time taking the magnificent view from the top
of the tower, viewing various
art displays, and walking downhill approximately 10 minutes to the city centre.

DAY 2- BOGARNES AND THE ICELANDIC SAGA
Today you start your journey in the beautiful island.
Your guide will pick you up at your hotel at 9 AM. Please check out
from the hotel and be ready in the hotel lobby for departure at that time.
On
today’s tour you will visit the Saga Museum, The Sagas - Iceland´s most important cultural heritage.In two exhibitons, The Settlement
Exhibition and the Egils Saga Exhibition, The
Settlement Centre tells the
Saga of the settlement of Iceland and Iceland´s most famous viking and
first poet Egill Skallagrimsson.From there you will visit Grábrók crater, from teh tour
there is a beautiful scenery over Borgarfjörður. Making a stop at Hraunfossar waterfalls and
Deildartunguhver geothermal hot spring area heading to the beautiful Husafell, where you will stay in
the area.

DAY 3- INTO THE GLACIER AND THE GOLDEN CIRCLE
Today you will visit Langjokull glacier both outside and INSIDE!
Langjokull glacier is the second largest glacier in Iceland and never
before have travelers been able to see the remarkable blue ice at the heart of
an ice cap glacier.
The ice tunnels are man-made and composed of an extensive system of
tunnels and chambers that stretch up to 300 meters into the solid
ice cap towards
a breathtaking ice cave at the heart of
the glacier. There
is enough room for everyone
and even a chapel to get married!
The deeper you go, the bluer the ice. Believe
it when you see it.
The walk into the glacier itself takes around one hour
and is operated with highly experienced English speaking guides.
After the glacier visit you will head to the Golden
Circle, a popular route containing some of the best-known natural
phenomena in Iceland. Highlights include Þingvellir National Park, the
Geysir geothermal area and the powerful Gullfoss Waterfall. You will also get to
visit the geothermally-heated greenhouse at the Friðheimar tomato farm.

DAY 4- WATERFALLS AND GLACIERS
You will be travelling through the beautiful south coast
towards Kirkjubæjarklaustur today. Notable highlights along the way include
the picturesque Seljalandsfoss waterfall, which has a unique walking path
behind the cascade
Helpful Tip: We recommend wearing a light rain jacket near the waterfall since it produces
a lot of mist. You should also wear shoes with good grip if you walk
on the pathway behind Seljalandsfoss.
Onwards to Iceland’s most photogenic attractions, starting with a
visit to the beautiful Skaftafell area of Vatnajökull National Park, named for Iceland’s largest glacier.
After lunch, the journey continues to the Jökulsárlón
glacier lagoon, where we will sail among the floating icebergs on a guided
boat tour.

DAY 5- SOUTH COAST
Today you will drive the south coast. first with a visit to the
Volcano Visitor Centre at the Þorvaldseyri farm, where you can learn all
about the infamous 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption and its impact on the local residents.
You will visit he volcanic black sand beaches near the
village of Vík í Mýrdal. One of the highlights here is the 120 metre-high
promontory of Dyrhólaey with its spectacular rock arch, bird nesting cliffs and
amazing views along with the unique Reynisdrangar basalt columns
rising out of the ocean.
Further along you will get to visit the magnificent 60 metre free-falling Skógafoss waterfalls in Skógar, where you will find
many interesting artifacts on display at the folk museum.. From there, the
journey takes you past the beautiful Eyjafjöll mountain range and to Reykjavik
Note: The cliffs at Dyrhólaey are closed from
mid-May until late June due to puffin nesting
season.
Helpful Tip: If you visit
the beach near Vík, please keep a safe distance from the shoreline due to rogue waves and
strong undercurrents.

DAY 6 - VOLCANOS AND THE REYKJANES PENINSULA
After transfer to the Blafjoll Mountain Cabin you will be
met by your guides and walk 3,3 km. / 1.8 mi. across a beautiful lava field
for 45 minutes before arriving at the volcano. Participants will then descend
120m/400ft through the top crater and down to the ground floor
of the magma chamber, accompanied by experienced and well trained guides.
After an hour's visit exploring the inside of the volcano you will be able to
enjoy Icelandic refreshments before continuing the day tour to Reykjanes peninsula.
At the peninsular you will see the ground
cooking at two different geothermal areas: Krýsuvík and Gunnuhver. Take in the
magnificent coastline and dramatic breaking waves by the Reykjanesviti
lighthouse, and finally step out on the “Bridge Between the Continents” which connects the American and Eurasian tectonic
plates - all while surrounded with the breathtaking scenery of
the Reykjanes peninsula. Before heading back to Reykjavik you will visit
the Blue
Lagoon to relax after the day’s adventures.
Bring with you: Rainproof outdoor clothing (the temperature
inside the crater is about 5-6°C), gloves, bottle of water and hiking

DAY 7 - DEPARTURE
Today your journey
in Iceland comes to an end. You will be picked up at your accommodation and driven to Keflavik International Airport in time for check in
